Passing through the upper part of Indiana, we just had to vist the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan, and no better place to do so than the Indiana Dunes National Seashore!Our first glimpse of the crystal blue water and white sand beaches varified that these folks up here in the North have got that Florida look by driving just a few miles.
An interesting discovery along the shores was the "Century of Progress" homes from the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. This unique piece of history was moved by barge from the original Fair's site - what a feat!
While in the neighborhood, a quick check in our Directory of Frank LLoyd Wright Homes showed the "Dunes House" being only a few blocks away. So, thanks to our trusty GPS, we were able to find this jewel tucked away on a back street in the Ogden Dunes subdivision.
Not wanting to bother the owners, or look too crazy walking up and down in front of the house, we take on final look from the carport end prior to leaving.
True to FLW's unique architecture, we enjoyed the finely detailed cantileavered overhangs, and with a little effort were able to spot one of his "glass corners".
What a place!
